October 2025 Webinar

Thanks to everyone who joined our live demo with Lisa Mihalich Quinn (Founder & Executive Director, Reach Every Voice; co-founder, Communication for Education) and Jefferson Stovall (Captain Tomorrow, co-founder of Adaptiverse). We brought together parents, educators, and practitioners—spanning from Maryland to Texas, California, and Nebraska—to see firsthand how Adaptiverse creates accessible, rigorous lessons for non-speaking learners in real-time.

Why Adaptiverse exists

Lisa shared her journey from special education teacher to founder, explaining the challenge that drove this innovation: adapting grade-level curriculum for non-speaking learners is essential but exhausting. After 15 years in Maryland public schools and creating 300+ adapted lessons through Reach Every Voice, she partnered with technologist Jefferson Stovall to encode REV’s Language Ladder methodology into an AI-powered tool that produces consistent, scaffolded lessons in minutes—not weekends.

What we showed (live demo)

Generate by topic: We created lessons on Jane Goodall (age 6), Weather vs. Climate (age 9), and explored how the tool adapts complexity based on age. Each lesson produced:

  • Clear explanatory paragraphs with bolded keywords
  • Predictable scaffolded question sequences: two-choice reasoning, expected completion (fill-in guided by likely completions), reasoning with a range of answers, and open-ended prompts
  • Credible sources cited at the end

Generate by image: We uploaded a textbook page on social studies to demonstrate how Adaptiverse extracts concepts from visuals and builds structured lessons around them—perfect for homework assignments that come home on paper.

New editing features (just launched!): We demonstrated the edit-in-place toolbar, showing how you can:

  • Combine paragraphs
  • Rearrange questions
  • Add custom questions
  • Embed YouTube videos directly into lessons
  • Change fonts and add highlights
  • Take notes that save with each lesson

Dashboard & organization: All lessons automatically save to your dashboard where you can view, edit, copy, print to PDF, and add notes for future reference.

What makes it different

Consistency by design: Unlike general chat tools that give unpredictable results, Adaptiverse uses deep prompt engineering and product guardrails to reliably produce research-aligned, scaffolded lessons matching REV’s methodology every time.

Reasoning-forward: Questions are structured to build thinking—not just recall—matching how non-speaking learners are taught to express ideas and demonstrate understanding.

Transparency: Every lesson cites sources so you can verify facts, extend learning, and build confidence in the content.

Student-driven learning: Instead of choosing from pre-made lessons on topics we find interesting, learners can explore their passions—from pickle-making processes to safety glass to Lego City adventures.

Real-world impact

Becky Griffin from Advancing Life Learners (Arizona) shared that staff can “immediately use these lessons” without being content experts—the questions come pre-structured to support students at every communication level. As one practitioner noted: “Instead of taking an entire weekend day for planning, I got that time back. It makes you feel as if you’re really teaching in the moment.”

Parents report breakthrough moments connecting with their children through lessons on topics that genuinely interest both of them, leading to more consistent practice and open-ended responses.

Quality, safety, and sustainability

We engineer the system to prioritize accuracy—not speculation—relying on provided or sourced content with guardrails to prevent AI “hallucination.” We’re mindful of AI’s environmental footprint and use the technology purposefully for high-value curriculum adaptation that replaces hours of manual work.
